Eleanor E. Ragon, 92, of West Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Westminster Village. She was born on December 9, 1921 in Kokomo, the daughter of Glen and Lucia (Wright) Ragon. Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by two cousins, Nancy (Rodger) Clemmer of Peoria, IL and Patti (Norman) Hildebrand of Newton, IL and several second cousins.
Eleanor graduated from Miami University of Ohio, earned a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York City and a PhD from Purdue University. She taught clinical dietetics at DePauw University, the University of Hawaii, North Texas State University and Michigan State University. She later became head dietician at the Veterans’ Home in West Lafayette.
She belonged to Central Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, the Altrusa Club and several other professional organizations. She loved to travel, both internationally and in the United States.
A private graveside service will be at Historic Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
